India’s Test vice-captain Rishabh Pant once again trended on social media with his Independence Day message. Along with his greetings, Pant shared a heartwarming, never-seen-before candid clip capturing India’s 2025 Champions Trophy triumph in Dubai. The video also had a soft suggestion about Rohit Sharma's future, whose spot in the team has come more and more under question. While being included in the squad, Rohit himself did not appear in the playing XI for the final. Pant’s footage showed the immediate dressing-room celebrations after Ravindra Jadeja sealed the win with a boundary, featuring the joyous reactions of Shubman Gill, Rohit, and Mohammed Shami. High-fives and warm embraces set the tone before Pant turned his camera towards the rest of the team. Watch here: Happy Independence Day, India. 🇮🇳Some moments stay with you forever and winning for India is at the top of the list. The wicketkeeper-batter did not spare any opportunity to tease Rohit, catching a moment at the end when he is sitting intently listening to the senior opener. Rohit is now engulfed by speculation regarding retirement all the time. The Nagpur-born withdrew from T20Is after guiding India to the 2024 T20 World Cup title and declared his Test retirement in May this year. Meanwhile, after India's Champions Trophy victory over New Zealand, there was speculation in no time about whether he would also retire from the most successful format for him, ODIs. With no ODI games for India till October, Rohit has been out of competitive cricket for several months now. Latest reports indicate that the BCCI could invite both Kohli and Rohit to play in the Vijay Hazare Trophy if they are to be considered for future ODI selection and even more crucially, the 2027 World Cup, which will be a 50-over affair.
