India's bowler Kuldeep Yadav once again disappointed the Indian captain Rohit Sharma and ex-captain Virat Kohli after he missed an opportunity for a run-out in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 against New Zealand in Dubai. The incident occurred during the 41st over when Michael Bracewell attempted a rapid single off Kuldeep's delivery to point. Ravindra Jadeja attempted a direct throw at the non-striker's end but failed to do so. Bracewell was, however, short of his crease, and Kuldeep, who was not behind the stumps as he was supposed to be, was out of position. On the last ball of the 41st, Rohit furiously questioned Kuldeep, "Stumps ke peeche kyu nahi aata hai?" (Why don't you get behind the stumps?). Virat Kohli also rebuked Kuldeep, and their outbursts have become viral on social media. He had missed a similar run-out chance in the semi-final against Australia. In that match, Steve Smith played the ball to Kohli at mid-wicket and ran for a single. Kohli’s quick throw to Kuldeep was avoided by the spinner instead of attempting to collect it. Rohit, fielding at cover, stopped the throw but was visibly frustrated with Kuldeep’s lack of effort.
