A 76-run inning may look short of a century, but never short of setting the base of the win. A gritty 48 from Shreyas Iyer had Axar Patel by his side, and then KL Rahul completed the job with Ravindra Jadeja hitting the final run with a boundary. The tournament was no doubt a collective team effort, with runs coming from everyone. Shreyas Iyer (263), who ended as the top scorer for India in the tournament, has been the consistent one, with KL Rahul silently guarding the lower order. The cameos from Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel were a plus for the team, with Virat Kohli standing tall as the anchor for all at least twice. The bowlers, mainly topped by spin, saw the rise of Varun Chakravarthy, who justified his tag of “mystery spinner.” The trio, Axar-Jadeja-Kuldeep, stood up whenever necessary, with contributions coming in from Hardik and the veteran Mohammad Shami.
