Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) kept their playoff hopes alive with a nail-biting victory over Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the 53rd match of IPL 2025. Asked to chase a daunting 206, KKR put up a total just over par on a slightly two-paced track. Solid blows by Gurbaz, Raghuvanshi, and a scorching fifty by Andre Russell helped KKR reach a fighting score. In spite of the tricky nature of the wicket, KKR's middle order came good at pivotal moments to put up a score that would be hard for RR to overcome. Rajasthan Royals, in response, were denied an early start with wickets falling in a jiffy. But RR skipper Riyan Parag was not going to let go without a fight. He came up with a spectacular knock, one-man show taking RR's chase hopes to a high. Along with Jaiswal, Parag continued the runs with some outstanding shots and brought RR into the game again. Just as it looked like RR might be able to come up with a stunning chase, things went terribly wrong. Jaiswal, playing magnificently, holed out to Moeen Ali, and shortly thereafter, Varun Chakravarthy's guileful googlies claimed the wickets of Jurel and Hasaranga in the same over. In the space of a moment, RR had lost three wickets in a mere seven deliveries, and their chase disintegrated. Though Parag's efforts were gallant, KKR's bowlers kept their cool and finished the game with poise and accuracy to seal a vital win. KKR's grittiness and perseverance turned out to be too much for Rajasthan Royals, which was unable to make the most of Parag's exceptional skills. With this victory, the playoff hopes of KKR live on, whereas the chase of RR was short by a little.
