On Day 1 of the 1st Test between India and England at Headingley, fans saw a typical Rishabh Pant moment, fearless, bold, and full of attitude. It occurred on the final ball of the 53rd over, bowled by Ben Stokes. Pant had only just come in and was still to score. But he didn't wait around. Before even getting settled, he advanced boldly from the crease, left his mark, and dispatched a length ball over Stokes' head straight back. It wasn't a four, it was a statement. The shot stunned even Ben Stokes, who couldn't help but chuckle at the confidence of Pant. The two had a light-hearted conversation as Stokes made his way back to his mark, grinning. Although Stokes has dismissed Pant once, the batter has dominated the English skipper overall. So far in the 1st Test between India and England at Leeds, Indian batters have proved their mettle against England’s relatively inexperienced bowling attack. KL Rahul scored 42, while Yashasvi Jaiswal mustered 101 - his maiden Test ton on the English soil. He also became only the fifth Indian batter to achieve this feat on the debut Test innings in England. Sai Sudharsan, however, couldn’t make an impact as he was dismissed for a 4-ball duck. But skipper Shubman Gill made up for it with a brilliant 56-ball half-century. At the time of writing, Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant are steadying the Indian innings and will look to end the day without losing another wicket.
