Rishabh Pant, who was signed by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the IPL 2025 auction, penned an emotional farewell for Delhi Capitals (DC). The wicket-keeper batter started his IPL career with DC back in 2016 and then went on to be appointed their captain. He became a fan favourite in IPL 2017 when he had hammered 366 runs with a strike rate of 165.61. Pant made himself a star in the year 2018 when he scored 684 runs in 14 matches, including a century and five fifties. Last season, Pant showed miraculously swift recovery from a near-fatal car accident in 2022 to competitive cricket. Despite his best efforts, though, DC could not make it to the playoffs. Before the auctions, DC decided not to retain him, and Pant was picked up by LSG at a record-breaking INR 27 crore. On instagram, Pant wrote: "Goodbyes are never easy. The journey with Delhi Capitals has been nothing short of amazing. From the thrills on the field to the moments off it, I’ve grown in ways I never imagined. I came here as a teenager and we grew together over the last nine years."
