The day 1 of the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) saw a bunch of light as well as heated moments. Virat Kohli shouldered the debutant Sam Konstas for which, the Indian stalwart is handed a fine of 20% match fee along with one demerit point. He was also seen animated in the field where he asked Siraj not to talk with them with a smile on the face. Amidst these heated moments, there were certain light moments as well which caught the attention of fans and commentators. The 36-year-old bowled 14 overs on Day 1 of the Boxing Day Test and ended with the figures of 54 for 1. Sam Konstas went hard on Bumrah in the opening session, smashing the premier bowler for two sixes. This was the first six on Bumrah's bowling since Cam Green hit him for a six at SCG in 2021. However, Jasprit Bumrah brought India back into the game with two quick wickets of Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh. The third session saw Australia losing four wickets, scoring 135 runs in the final session of the day, which took their score to 311 for 6 during stumps. Steve Smith, who regained his form with a century at The Gabba, is looking firm with the score of 68 and he will aim to score his second ton in the series and the fifth at this venue.
