Team India created history with their first-ever Test victory in Edgbaston by winning against England by 336 runs and making the five-match series equal 1-1. There were a lot of talking points during the match, ranging from Shubman Gill's batting exploits to Akash Deep's maiden 10-wicket haul performance, but one incident on Day 5 received special attention, a disagreement over fielding between captain Shubman Gill and senior all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. Jadeja Shoots Down Gill's Field Change Request While there was a 70-run stand between Ben Stokes and Jamie Smith, Gill was heard on the stump microphone telling Jadeja to shift the long-on fielder to a different location. Gill was attempting to lay a trap for Stokes so that Stokes would have a go at a loose shot in that direction. Shubman Gill said: "Jaddu bhai, usko bhi upar lelo yaar. Maarne do ek aage badhke (Jadeja, bring him up too. Let him try hitting one by stepping out)." Having no option, Gill just went back to his slip fielding position. The incident was recorded on video and soon reached social media where it became viral overnight. Fans were stunned to witness a senior player defying the captain's strategy, particularly in a major game. Ravindra Jadeja said: "Usko udhar kuch kaam nahi hai. Atleast jaaye toh pakadne wala bhi toh hona chaiye niche. Khada toh udhar bhi kardo, but pakadne wala toh chahiye (He's of no use over there. At least if the ball goes that way, someone should be there to catch it. You can place him there, sure, but there should be someone ready to catch)." Watch the video here: Field set. Trap laid.
