The former PCB chairman, aka former Pakistan player Ramiz Raja, landed in an unwanted controversy while criticizing Babar Azam on air. The former Pakistan captain Babar Azam was awaiting a third umpire call at the Gaddafi Stadium in the first Test match against South Africa. The South African bowler Senuran Muthusamy appealed for a caught behind around the 48th over. And right while Wasim Akram was doing commentary, Raza was faintly heard saying that Babar will be doing drama as if he is not out. Notably, Raja's microphone was not supposed to be on but was heard unfortunately. Raja was hear saying, "Yeh out hai, ab yeh drama karega." Well, Babar was expected to get an outside edge and the wicketkeeper completed the catch. However, on checking, it was found that the ball had no contact with the bat, and Babar was saved. With Babar surviving the call, Raja was slammed by fans to insult Babar live. South Africa is currently at the crease, looking to build a response. Babar Azam, despite surviving a DRS review earlier, couldn’t extend his innings for long and was dismissed for 23 runs off 48 balls by Simon Harmer. However, the right-handed batter reached a historic milestone before his dismissal. With just two runs needed in this Test to reach 3,000 WTC runs, Babar accomplished it with a four off Senuran Muthusamy on the fourth ball of the 49th over on Day 1. This feat makes him the first Asian cricketer to cross 3,000 runs in the World Test Championship. Before Babar, only players from Australia—Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Travis Head, Usman Khawaja—and England—Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Zak Crawley—had achieved the landmark. Mohammad Rizwan remains the only other Pakistani batter with over 2,000 WTC runs.
