Any bowler would like to claim a hat-trick and assist their side in winning the match. Though most of the hat-tricks end up in the winning cause, it is not common to find a hat-trick landing on the losing team. That was the fate of South Delhi Superstars spinner Rahul Chaudhary in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025. In the 18th match of the season on Monday, August 11, New Delhi Tigers took on South Delhi Superstars at Arun Jaitley Stadium. The Tigers were chasing 197 runs and had 12 runs in hand with six wickets remaining in the last over. Opener Anmol Sharma scored 79, and the Tigers were poised for a win. Rahul Chaudhary Claims First Hat-Trick of DPL 2025 Rahul, having already conceded 35 runs in his initial three overs, was brought in to bowl the last over. On the first delivery, he got rid of set Anmol Sharma with a square leg catch by Aryan Dalal. The second ball produced a return catch to get out Sumit. Next, on the third ball, he got Gulzar Sandhu trapped to achieve the first hat-trick of the season. This hat-trick changed the game suddenly in favour of the Superstars and placed them on the threshold of a historic victory. Rahul bowled the fourth ball wide down the leg side, which went to the boundary for 4 extra runs. The Tigers then scored 2 runs off the following legitimate delivery, having 5 runs required from 2 balls. Abhishek Khandelwal hit a six off the fifth ball to secure a 3-wicket victory for the Tigers. South Delhi Superstarz had earlier scored 196/9 in 20 overs, with 65 from Dhruv Kaushik and 54 from Deepak Punia. For the Tigers, Aman Bharti had claimed 3 wickets, with Anmol Sharma (79) and wicket-keeper Tejasswi Dahiya (72) spearheading the chase. Rahul's hat-trick could not stop the Tigers from winning a closely fought game.
