Prithvi Shaw was in his combative best with and without the bat in hand during the Ranji Trophy warm up. Shaw, who turned out for Maharashtra clashed with his former team Mumbai in a warm up match ahead of the top domestic tournament. The opener piled up a scintillating century but was engaged in an altercation after being given out. Prithvi Shaw prepared for the Ranji Trophy 2025/6 with a magnificent century on Tuesday. Against Mumbai, Shaw hammered a breathtaking 181 off only 220 balls. He interspersed his innings with 21 fours and three sixes, in what is a statement innings. His removal however sparked a massive on field fight. Musheer Khan dismissed the Maharashtra opener and celebrated in a vivid manner. The reaction upset Shaw, who confronted the young all-rounder. The argument fanned out and it took the umpires to intervene and separate the two. He remained unsold at the IPL 2025 auction and was omitted by Mumbai for indiscipline. At 27, he has been given a lifeline by Maharashtra. Shaw appears eager to pay back the trust and looked fitter and in good touch during the warm up. Maharashtra will start their Ranji Trophy against Kerala on October 15. Saurashtra, Karnataka, Punjab, Goa and Madhya Pradesh are some of the other teams in their division. Shaw joined Maharashtra after a tough 2024–25 season when he was dropped from the Mumbai side and left out by IPL franchises, going unsold in the IPL 2025 auction. Determined to restart his career, Shaw joined Maharashtra, which has Ruturaj Gaikwad and Jalaj Saxena in its ranks. In this warm-up game, he demonstrated that he still has the hunger to compete. The next season of Ranji Trophy 2025–26 could be critical for Shaw if he wants to restart his form and consistency again.
