There is nothing more pleasant to watch than when the stumps get toppled, and the LSG bowler Prince Yadav gifted likewise, clearing the monstrous Travis Head. Rishabh Pant-led Lucknow Super Giants have locked horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad in Hyderabad on March 27, when SRH lost their third after the 23-year-old Prince took charge. He fires in a full, straight delivery aimed at the base of the stumps. Travis Head, looking to dominate, clears his front leg and crouches low for a mighty slog across the line. But he completely misjudges the length and line. The ball zips past his bat, sneaks under, and crashes into the middle stump. All total, he conceded 9 runs in the over, and the crucial wicket. Meanwhile, Travis Head got two live in a same over, the first came when Nicholas Pooran dropped a sitter, and then Ravi Bishnoi himself when the ball passed wide off him. Travis Head set the tone early, tearing into the bowlers with a blistering 47 off just 28 balls, hammering five boundaries and three towering sixes. His knock was a warning of SRH’s intent, but his dismissal at 76/3 in the seventh over put a temporary brake on the carnage. Prince Yadav’s peach of a delivery rattled his stumps, but SRH’s batting firepower is far from exhausted. Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan fell cheaply, courtesy of Shardul Thakur’s early strikes, but with Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy at the crease, the fireworks are only a matter of time. Reddy has already shown glimpses of his aggression with a quickfire 22 off 14 balls, while Klaasen, one of the most feared finishers, is just getting started. With big hitters like Pat Cummins and Abhinav Manohar yet to step in, SRH have plenty of ammunition left. Delhi’s bowlers, despite Thakur’s double blow and Yadav’s breakthrough, will have to brace themselves for what’s coming. The first few overs may have given them some respite, but the real onslaught from SRH’s batting unit is yet to unfold.
