In a viral video from the stadium, PBKS co-owner Preity Zinta and IPL chairman Arun Dhumal can be seen urging fans to calmly leave the venue for their safety. The incident unfolded during Punjab’s innings, with the hosts batting on 122/1 in 10.1 overs. As confusion spread in the stands, security and officials quickly moved into action. While players waited briefly on the field, match officials soon decided there was no possibility of resumption. “Due to a power outage in the area, one of the light towers at the HPCA stadium malfunctioned. BCCI regrets the inconvenience caused to the in-stadium attendees,” read the official statement. This incident comes amid increasing tension in the region linked to Operation Sindoor. The BCCI has now suspended the IPL until further notice. The BCCI is currently exploring different venues for hosting, and they are likely to host the tournament in September.
