Ravindra Jadeja seems to have not forgotten what had transpired in the previous Test, and it seems he has not forgiven either. In the Test at Edgbaston a few days ago, KL Rahul dropped a straightforward catch at first slip off Jadeja's bowling. That missed catch lingered in Jadeja's mind. So, when he witnessed a similar incident on Day 1 of the third Test between India and England at Lord's, he ensured that he reminded Rahul not to make a blunder again. Jadeja was bowling the 80th over when he realized Rahul may not be prepared. He promptly said, "KL, dekh le. He picked up the big wicket of Ollie Pope, who had just scored a century in the Leeds Test. The wicket came soon after the tea break when Shubman Gill made a shrewd captaincy decision. Rather than persisting with Jasprit Bumrah, Gill handed over the ball to Jadeja. The tactic succeeded immediately. Jadeja bowled a close line and taunted Pope to go forward. Pope received a slight edge, and wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel took a clean catch. Jadeja finished the day with 1 wicket for 26 runs in 10 overs. England's fifth-wicket combination of Joe Root and Ben Stokes have put an onus partnership of 79 runs in 170 balls, which has taken England up to 251/4. It has been a patient innings, nothing like their typical aggressive 'Bazball' approach. Root is 99 not out, on the verge of another Test hundred. Stokes is 39 not out and seemed to be struggling with a groin problem, but for all the discomfort he's enduring, he's managing to stay at the crease and attempt to contribute to his team. Stokes has not scored a fifty in his past four innings, so he's desperate to end that run.
