If it was a token gift for Hardik Pandya or just a cold celebration, is yet unknown, but Abrar Ahmed's celebration after dismissing Shubhman Gill has caught the eyes of many. On February 23, at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Pakistani spinner Abrar gave Shubman Gill a send-off after dismissing him in the high-stakes Champions Trophy 2025 clash. Gill played a steady knock of 46 off 52 balls, striking seven boundaries before Abrar ended his stay at the crease. In the 18th over, with Pakistan in desperate need of a breakthrough while defending 241, Abrar struck. The 26-year-old delivered a ball on the middle stump, which Gill, attempting a back-foot defensive shot, completely misjudged. The ball crashed into the stumps, leaving him stunned. Following the dismissal, Abrar celebrated by crossing his hands while giving Gill a send-off. The Indian batter stood in disbelief, processing the brilliance of the delivery. He literally flatters his plams in the air, coldly gesturing the batter to walk out. However, Abrar might have given it back to the India team, but the guests got the taste differently. Barring Saud Shakeel, none of the players could manage to stand against the Indian bowlers. Shakeel stole a half century while the other side fell down. Yet Pakistan put on a collective score of 241, which India chased having 6 wickets in hands with around 7 overs left. Pakistan, who were all in the dressing room, has been tormented by Kuldeep Yadav majorly, who took 3 wickets. Hardik took 2, while Hashir Rana, Axar Patel, and Ravindra Jadeja took 1 each. India’s captain Rohit Sharma, who contributed 41 runs in the Champions Trophy opener against Bangladesh, fell for 20 against Pakistan as Shaheen Afridi’s yorker shattered his stumps. Vice-captain Shubman Gill built a 69-run stand with Virat Kohli but was dismissed for 46 by Abrar Ahmed. Kohli (100*) anchored the chase alongside Shreyas Iyer (56), securing India’s win. Kohli’s unbeaten ton earned him the Man of the Match award, finishing in style with a boundary. With Pakistan nearly out, they face Bangladesh on February 27, while India takes on New Zealand on March 2 in Dubai.
