A clip of India's ODI captain Rohit Sharma battling Jason Behrendorff's express pace is trending on X. It is from India's second ODI in their 2019 tour of Australia, at Adelaide. Rohit can be seen struggling with the swing and bounce of left-arm pacer Behrendorff as India were chasing 299 in tough conditions. The video shows how tough it is for a batter to counter rapid pace in conditions favorable to the bowler. Rohit, positioned a little outside his crease, was confronted with late action and seaming bounce. Behrendorff kept him at the edge of his seat with a variety of deliveries, cutting across, seaming in, and clipping the thigh pad couple of times. Here's a sneak peek into the over: 9.1: Shorter ball, punched for two runs between point and cover. 9.2: No swing, Rohit misses, ball clips thigh pad. 9.3: Extra bounce, swings in, hits thigh pad. 9.4: Length ball outside off, defended to covers. 9.5: Good length, defended to mid-off. 9.6: Full and wide outside off, beats Rohit's cover drive. However, BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla denied it and said that it was clear that both the stars were not contemplating farewells as yet. Shukla said: "When did they retire? Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli both will still play ODIs, so if they are still playing, then why talk about farewell now? Why are you people worrying already? Our policy is very clear – BCCI never tells any player to retire. He has to take his own decision. He himself has to take this call." Shukla went on to state that both the players are fit and in good form. he added: "When that bridge comes, we will tell you how to cross it. You people are already talking about farewells. Kohli is very fit, he is going on. Rohit Sharma is playing very well. And you people are already worried about farewell." Both stars are in training for their return to white-ball cricket. Rohit has been training with ex-India assistant coach Abhishek Nair, while Kohli has been seen training at Lord's. Both are likely to be part of the three-match ODI series against Australia from October 19 to 25.
