Sri Lanka produced a masterclass bowling display against Bangladesh in their Asia Cup 2025 Group B match at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on September 13. Having won the toss and choosing to field first, the Islanders cut down Bangladesh to 60/5 in just 11 overs through disciplined pace bowling led by Nuwan Thushara's outstanding opening spell. Thushara created a bowling masterclass in the first over that set the tone for Sri Lanka's dominance. The 31-year-old right-arm medium-fast bowler started off with five successive dot balls that strangled opening batter Tanzid Hasan. With pressure building up after failing to score from the first five balls, Tanzid tried an audacious drive on the last ball of the over but got thoroughly bamboozled by Thushara's expertise. The delivery was a flawless inswinging yorker that pitched on off-stump and straightened just enough to discover the gap between the bat and pad. Tanzid's booming drive attempt left a huge gap for the ball to impact through and dislodge the off-stump in dramatic style. The Bangladesh opener walked back to the pavilion without disturbing the scorers after going through six balls.
