On June 7, Saturday, India's men's cricket team arrived in the UK to begin their five-Test series against England. The is the first series team India in the new 2025–27 ICC World Test Championship cycle. It also signifies the commencement of a new era for Team India. With veterans such as Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravichandran Ashwin retiring from Test cricket, the team is now headed by Shubman Gill. The Indian squad departed from Mumbai on Friday and touched down in London the following day. The Board of Control for Cricket in India shared a clip of the players' travel experience and their arrival at Heathrow Airport. In the clip, Jasprit Bumrah playfully mocked captain Shubman Gill for sporting shades at night. Young batter B Sai Sudharsan, who received his debut call-up to the Test team, expressed his elation at being part of the team. But what surprised everyone was the thin crowd at the airport. Usually, when Team India goes abroad, fans gather in hordes, waving flags and cheering. But this time, all was silent. There were barely a few media people and a small crowd of fans waiting to greet the players. Most think the fact that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are missing is the cause. The two stars used to make huge crowds follow them wherever they played. Their presence is already being missed - not only for their cricket but also for the thrill they bring.
