India's talented all-rounder Nitish Reddy played a superb shot on Day 1 of the pink-ball Test at the Adelaide Oval. On the second delivery of the 42nd over of India's 1st innings, Scott Boland bowled a length delivery around the off to which Nitish reverse-scooped it. The connection was so good that the ball sailed over the boundary for a six over the slips. Reddy continued his onslaught in that over with a four on the third ball followed by no ball on which Reddy and Bumrah ran for a double. Reddy again went for a six on the next delivery which was again followed by a no ball with a single. They accumulated 21 runs in that over, 19 of which came from the bat of Nitish Reddy. Ravichandran Ashwin also went back to the dugout after score a quick 22 off 22. There was the cloud of crises as India were tumbling rapidly, however, Nitish Kumar Reddy had some other plans as the 21-year-old all-rounder hammered 42 runs off just 54 balls and his innings comprised of three fours and three sixes. His innings powered India to a total of 180 in 44.1 overs. Mitchell Starc was the star of the Day as the left-arm speedster troubled the Indian batters and went on to register his career best figures in Test cricket. Starc bagged 6 crucial wickets which includes the wickets of Yashasvi Jaiswal (0), KL Rahul (37), Virat Kohli (7), Nitish Reddy (42), R. Ashwin (22) and Harshit Rana (0). Pat Cummins and Scott Boland also bagged two wickets each to wrap the innings of India. The onus will now be on the Indian bowlers to put up a similar, in fact even better bowling performance than the Australians.
