For the early fans of the Delhi Capitals, it is still a comic relief to see young Shreyas Iyer walking inside the dressing room, mimmicking his teammate Marcus Stoinis, while Stoinis broke into laughter. After five years, Iyer, with a new team, the Punjab Kings, undergoes the same mimeticry as his young Musheer Khan. Musheer walked towards a Punjab associate in the way Iyer walks, the same laid-back style, shoulders moving to and fro, and speaking in the same way Iyer does. Like the same environment as DC's, as the Punjab Kings players broke out into laughter, even Shreyas seemed to like appreciating the act, laughing out loud. This acquisition highlights the franchise's commitment to nurturing emerging talent. However, six months ago, Musheer Khan’s world came crashing down—literally. A car accident left him with a neck fracture, robbing him of an entire domestic season. Cricket, however, never left his life. Confined to bed, he found solace in endless discussions with his father and brothers, analyzing every game on TV. Recovery wasn’t easy. From rehabilitation in Bengaluru to cautious net sessions with his father, each step was a battle. But destiny had its own plans. At the IPL auction, Punjab Kings came calling. Now, under the watchful eyes of Ricky Ponting, Musheer is learning the finer nuances of the game. Patience is key. Sarfaraz’s advice echoes in his mind—observe, learn, and wait for the right moment. The accident may have paused his journey, but Musheer, grateful for a second life, is ready to script his own comeback—one step, one shot at a time. Meanwhile, the Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab Kings are all set to play their first match in 2025 IPL, on March 25 against the Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad.
