Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have finally registered a victory after four consecutive defeats. They defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens in the 57th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. A valiant effort from Dewald Brevis ensured CSK registered just their third victory of the season. Though eliminated from the playoffs race, the game saw a lot of positives for CSK. Post smashing the winning runs, Anshul Kamboj and MS Dhoni walked back to the dugout while shaking hands with the KKR players. During that moment, a heartwarming video emerged out in which MS Dhoni walked back to Chetan Sakariya to shake hands with him. Despite being such a legendary cricketer, this kind and down-to-earth gesture of CSK skipper wins heart of not just CSK, but all cricket fans. However, Chennai Super Kings' bowlers, particularly Noor Ahmad, made sure Rahane & co. settles down at a below par total. Although skipper Rahane scored 48 runs, and Manish Pandey and Andre Russell chipped in with 38 and 36 respectively, KKR could only manage 179 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Noor Ahmad bagged four crucial wickets for CSK, with Anshul Kamboj and Ravindra Jadeja each taking one wicket. The chase, however, came with psychological pressure for CSK, as they had failed to chase targets of 180 or more since 2019. The start gave CSK some haunting moments as they were reduced to 60-5 inside the powerplay, but Dewald Brevis held his nerves and unleashed a flurry of shots to score his maiden IPL fifty in just 22 balls. Shivam Dube also contributed 45 off 40, while MS Dhoni played a handy knock of 17*. Anshul Kamboj landed the final blow by smashing a four off Russell to secure a two-wicket win at Eden Gardens. The Men in Yellow have two more matches left this season, with the next one being against Rajasthan Royals at Chepauk on May 12, followed by their last league match against Gujarat Titans at Ahmedabad on May 18.
