The hosts were bundled out for a mere 201 in their first innings. Thus, South Africa went ahead with a huge lead of 288 runs. Marco Jansen once again led the visitors' attack, picking 6/48 after scoring 93 with the bat in the first innings. His spell now ranks amongst the best by a South African fast bowler in India, only behind Lance Klusener and Dale Steyn. Jansen also became only the third left-arm pacer to take a five-wicket haul in India since 1988, after Zaheer Khan and Mitchell Johnson. Washington Sundar and Kuldeep Yadav managed a functional 72-run partnership for the eighth wicket to steady the innings. Once Simon Harmer sent back Washington, Jansen returned and wrapped up the tail. Kuldeep fell to a ball that bounced sharply, while Jasprit Bumrah edged behind to end the innings. South Africa Take Full Control Even with a lead of 288, South Africa surprised many by not enforcing the follow-on. Aiden Markram and Ryan Rickelton made sure there were no early shocks and stretched the overall lead to 314 at the stumps, ending the day at 26/0. The visitors are in complete control now with two days remaining. India face an uphill task to save the Test and keep the series alive.
