The openers, Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley, amassed 54 runs for the opening stand. Duckett struck 52 and was the only player who looked confident against the spinners of Pakistan. They took the game beyond the reach of the England team from 98/5. Ollie Pope, Joe Root, and Harry Brook were also dismissed quickly as the scorecard reached at 110/5 during lunch. England captain Ben Stokes was dismissed for 12 while Jamie Smith put up a fight with 89 off 119 balls, making six sixes and five fours. He along with Gus Atkinson, who had made 39 off 71 balls, forged a seventh wicket partnership of 105 runs for England to reach 267. For Pakistan, Sajid Khan had bowled the best with the figures of 6/128, while Noman Ali had scalped 3 for 88. Zahid Mahmood also chipped in with one wicket. Pakistan are at 73-3 at the stumps on Day 1 with Saud Shakeel (16*) and Shan Masood (16*) at the crease. The duo will look to build the partnership on Day 2, while the English bowlers will try their best to bundle the innings of Pakistan as soon as they can.
