Mitchell Starc, known for his fierce pace bowling, recently shared his most heartbreaking cricket memory during an interview with 7 Cricket. Starc revealed that getting dismissed for 99 against India in the 2013 Mohali Test remained a moment he couldn't forget and has been haunting him until now. He was just one run short of making his maiden Test century. The match was part of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, and Starc's batting effort would be remembered to be one of the positives for Australia during the third Test. Bating at number nine, Starc displayed his batting prowess, which gave Australia a much-needed boost in first innings. Australia responded quite well by posting 139 runs for the opening wicket, and Steve Smith added with a very solid 92. It was Starc who edged the day forward. Star walked in and smashed a brilliant half-century. As he neared his century, the excitement picked up across the Australian camp. Star was dismissed on 99 by a delivery from Ishant Sharma as he attempted an audacious drive and ended up edging the ball. MS Dhoni did not miss this one to go back for Star. Starc walked back, but clearly there was disappointment, missing out on what could have been his first Test ton. His wife, Alyssa Healy, too had her view on the incident. She rushed home to watch Starc bat but arrived when he got out. So in a way, the moment was even more emotional for both of them. But even with heartbreak, Starc's knock helped Australia post a formidable total of 408 in the first innings. As Australia gets ready for the first Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test in Perth, they are likely to be led by their pace spearhead, Starc. A seaming pitch is likely in Perth at Optus Stadium, and a fit Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and possibly Mitchell Marsh might supplement Starc. Nathan Lyon might be the only spinner inside the playing eleven.
