The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) witnessed a humongous six in the 23rd match of Big Bash League (BBL) 2024-25 between the two Melbourne based franchises, Melbourne Renegades and Melbourne Stars. On the 3rd ball of the 9th over of the Melbourne Stars innings, Adam Zampa bowled a tossed-up delivery in the middle and the Stars' skipper Marcus Stoinis smashed it over the long-on boundary for a huge 106m six. The ball went missing for a while before a young kid found it to get a huge cheer from the crowd at the iconic MCG. Their top three batters couldn't contribute much as Josh Brown, Jake Fraser-McGurk and Tim Seifert fell short for 6, 12 and 17 runs respectively. However, the 21-year-old Jacob Bethell (49) and Jonathan Wells (45) steered the Renegades' innings. Laurie Evans also added valuable 24 off 11 to take the score to 167 for 7 in 20 overs. For Stars, Joel Paris and Peter Siddle bagged two wickets each, while Mark Steketee and Usama Mir had one wicket ahead of their name. Coming on to the chase, Thomas Rogers was castled by Gurinder Sandhu for just 1 off 5. Dan Lawrence also fell as the victim of Sandhu for 2 runs, while Sam Harper got run out for just 1. Ben Duckett seemed to be playing on a different as the opener smashed 67 runs off 49 balls before Sandhu got the better of him. Marcus Stoinis also displayed some fireworks, scoring 48 off 35 before Tom Rogers of Renegades dismissed the danger man. At the time of writing, Stars are at 147 for 5 in 18 overs and they need 22 more runs to register their second win in this season.
