A hilarious moment occurred on to this Day 2 of the Test match between South Africa and Bangladesh at Dhaka, when Hasan Mahmud bowled a low full toss during the 69th over to Dane Piedt. Piedt hit it back and it deflected from Mahmud's hand onto the non-striker's stumps. On the deflection, Piedt still tried for a quick single, though Kyle Verreynne did not leave his crease. It was Piedt who started to run back. Mahmud attempted to throw for a run-out but instead of hitting the stumps, his throw went to strike Piedt on the thigh. Luckily, Piedt was not hurt, and the crowd enjoyed this comical moment. What could be an easy run-out became an amusing mistake that allowed Piedt to return to his crease safely. A good start was seen in the beginning of the day through the solid partnership between Verreynne and Mulder. The sweeps from Verreynne and reverse sweeps from Mulder put Bangladesh's spinners in trouble. Mulder made his first fifty and a brilliant century by Verreynne along with a fighting innings from Piedt gave South Africa an excellent lead of 202 runs. Taijul Islam was Bangladesh's best bowler with five wickets. Bangladesh did have a fight in their reply. Shadman was run out through short leg early, and Rabada bowled a beauty to see off Mominul. Maharaj then took some time to get going but once set, he landed it accurately. A 50-run stand between Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Najmul Hossain Shanto gave some hope to Bangladesh, but Maharaj trapped Shanto lbw before the partnership could gain any further steam. Maharaj along with Piedt found turn as well as bounce, that tested the Bangladeshi batsmen. Mahmudul has fought well, and the experience of Mushfiqur Rahim, Bangladesh's first to reach 6,000 Test runs, has just joined him. But with Bangladesh still trailing by 101 runs, it is going to be the experience of Mushfiqur that they are going to bank. The South Africans are going to keep up the pressure on them, making things a lot tougher for the Bangladeshis in the next day.
