A fox is definitely not an usual athlete a fan might see sprinting near the boundary, as it happened last night at the Lord's during The Hundred's match between London Spirit and Oval Invincibles. The match came to a sudden halt with the crowds cheering at the top of their voices as the animal finally found its way to the exit. The interruption occurred as London Spirit’s Daniel Worrall was preparing to bowl. With Oval Invincibles chasing 153 and still needing 72 runs, a small fox ran straight across the pitch. The incident, both bizarre and amusing, was caught live by Sky Sports cameras and later went viral online. Spectators at Lord’s, known for their reserved manner, were audibly thrilled. Commentary duo Stuart Broad and Eoin Morgan couldn’t hold back their laughter either, adding levity to the unscripted moment. The fox eventually exited through the boundary ropes, allowing the match to resume. Chasing a modest target of 81, the Invincibles got over the line in just 69 balls, thanks to a composed 24 (24) by Will Jacks and a quick 14 (9) cameo from Sam Curran. Earlier, London Spirit struggled throughout their innings, managing just 80 in 94 balls. Ashton Turner top-scored with 21 off 14, but the real damage was done by Rashid Khan, who claimed 3/11 in 20 balls and grabbed three catches, earning him Player of the Match. Sam Curran also impressed with 3/18. In response, Dawson picked up 2/9 to offer brief resistance, but the total proved too low. The Invincibles reached 81/4 with 31 balls remaining. Rashid, in the post-match presentation, said, “It was nice to get off to a winning start… I haven’t bowled in the last couple of months but the amount of cricket I have played in the last ten years, that really helps.”
