KL Rahul has batting brilliantly for India in the Perth Test match so far, scoring determined 26 runs in the first innings after being given out controversially. Rahul carried that momentum into the second innings. The Indian innings came alive when the team batted again, with Rahul making a proper use of the conditions at his disposal. He led the way, along with Yashasvi Jaiswal, who attacked the Australian bowlers with aggression and patience alike. Here, the Indian opener played some remarkable strokes, with his straight drive off Pat Cummins. This shot brought back memories of Sachin Tendulkar, who had mastered this technique. Here, he bowled a fuller ball that was swinging back into the batter, but Rahul confidently drove it straight past the bowler as reminiscent of Sachin's classic style. Indian skipper Jasprit Bumrah was impressive with the ball, picking up a five-wicket haul that literally butchered the Australian batsman's lineup. This was Bumrah's seventh five-wicket haul in SENA countries and his second in Australia. Australia then folded for their second-lowest score against India at home, giving the visitors a 46-run lead. The Indian openers, KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal built on this advantage extraordinarily well. They could easily handle the Australian bowlers and place India firmly in charge. At the close of Day 2, India stands at 172/0, aggregating 218 runs ahead. Yashasvi Jaiswal has been unbeaten on 90 off 193 balls, while KL Rahul has batted solidly on 62 off 153 balls.
