After Shubman Gill’s wicket early on Day 4, Rishabh Pant walked in to join a well-set KL Rahul at the crease. India was looking to build a strong lead in the third innings, and Pant didn’t take long to make his presence felt. On just the second ball he faced, Pant smashed Chris Woakes for a boundary, showing his usual attacking mindset. Pant is known for playing aggressive cricket, especially in Tests, and fans love that about him. But sometimes, his attacking shots come with a bit of risk. That’s exactly what happened in the 33rd over, when Brydon Carse bowled a fuller delivery outside off. Pant leaned forward and went for a slog shot, but the ball took the top edge and flew toward fine leg. Luckily for Pant, there was no fielder at fine leg, and the ball ran away for a four. Had there been a fielder there, Pant could have easily lost his wicket. Right after that moment, KL Rahul was seen telling Pant: “Ball achhe se dekho (watch the ball properly).” Pant smiled and replied in his usual fun style: “Haanji, aisa nahi hai aise hi ghuma du, ball achhe se dekhta hoon (Yes yes, it’s not like I swing blindly, I do watch the ball properly).” Watch the video here: KL Rahul : बॉल अच्छे से देखोPant : हांजी ऐसा नहीं है, ऐसे ही घुमा दूं, बॉल अच्छे से देखता हूं#ENGvIND #ENGvsIND #INDvsENG #India #LeedsTest #RishabhPant #KLRahul pic.twitter.com/AFjsnoHPkv — Gaurav Pandit (@igauravpandit) June 23, 2025 Also Read | Watch: Pant Talks to Himself After Risky Shot, DK Translates Live Pant and Rahul Steady India Before Lunch on Day 4 India lost the opener Shubman Gill on Day 4 early on. He was able to score only two runs from his overnight score and got bowled by Brydon Carse for 8. The ball was on a good length and jagged in off the pitch. Gill attempted to play it but received an inside edge, and the stumps were hit. England continued to apply pressure to India. KL Rahul was dropped by Harry Brook on 58 after hitting his 18th Test fifty. Rishabh Pant also survived when a close lbw decision was overturned following a review. But in the final 30 minutes leading up to lunch, Rahul and Pant played cautiously. They remained calm and played safe shots. Together, they contributed 61 runs for the fourth wicket and helped India wrap the innings on a bowler-friendly pitch.
