KL Rahul lost his wicket on Day 2 of the 2nd Unofficial Test between Australia A and India A in a manner that is unsettling for fans and teammates alike. Chasing a lead of 62, KL Rahul came to bat with Abhimanyu Easwaran for India A's second innings but could manage just 10 runs before losing his wicket to Corey Rocchiccioli in a pure brain fade. A length ball from Rocchiccioli dismissed KL Rahul in a very funny manner. Rahul left it thinking that it will go down the leg but was shocked when the ball went on to hit the stumps coming from between his legs. This strange dismissal gave everyone something to talk about underlining one of the more comical moments in the match. The problems were coming in a bundle, and that is what has reflected on his stats - just 4 runs in the first innings and 14 runs in the match. Rahul was the obvious choice for an opener, given that Rohit Sharma is unlikely to play in the opening Test in Perth on November 22. But his lack of runs causes a concern as India heads into the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against Australia, where a 4-0 win would ensure a direct ticket for the World Test Championship final. Rahul was omitted from the second and third Test against New Zealand, and he needs to play very well in Melbourne to maintain his possibilities for selection. On the other hand, chronic inconsistency sends him down the order of selection.
