India announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025 on Saturday, January 18. The tournament will be held in Pakistan and the UAE from February 19. Skipper Rohit Sharma and chief selector Ajit Agarkar made the announcement at a press conference in Mumbai. The press conference was delayed for almost three hours after the selection committee met to ascertain the final composition of the team. Finally, the event began in the afternoon, and after releasing the long-awaited list of the selected team members, Rohit and Agarkar addressed the reporters' queries. In a press conference, Rohit's microphone was on, and he complained to Ajit Agarkar about new BCCI guidelines for players' families. He could be heard saying, "Mere ko 1 dhed ghanta baithna padega. Ye sab bol rahe hai mere ko family-wamily ka." It soon went viral, and a buzz was seen on social media. 💀💀 pic.twitter.com/4nn17QKemt — Priyanshu (@cricketwalaldka) January 18, 2025 Later, another video appeared online in which Rohit vented out his frustration over the press conference, and he was heard saying, "Kitna Boring Press Conference Tha Ye." Mohammed Siraj, who had been a regular with Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami, was left out. Sanju Samson also failed to make the cut, and Rishabh Pant was chosen as the wicketkeeper instead. Reports indicate that the delay in the meeting was due to differences between Rohit, the selectors, and Gautam Gambhir over the exclusion of Samson. However, the final squad announcement is a start for India to prepare for the high-stakes tournament.
