After winning the Indian Premier League trophy after a long wait of 17 years, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru team has finally reached Karnataka. The Deputy Chief Minister, D. K. Shivakumar, had reached the airport to receive the team, greeting them with flowers and the Karnataka state flag. Even Virat Kohli waved the flag along with Shivkumar and his associates. The team, which clinched its maiden IPL title after 18 seasons, was set to celebrate with fans on city roads—but the event has now been curtailed to a closed-door felicitation ceremony at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. The decision came after Bengaluru Police raised concerns about emergency access and crowd control around key areas like MG Road and Vidhana Soudha. With regular weekday traffic already causing gridlocks, the administration urged RCB to avoid further disruptions. The felicitation will now take place from 5 to 6 PM on June 4, open only to pass holders. Fans have been advised to use public transport, especially the metro, to avoid parking issues near the stadium. While fans are disappointed, fireworks, music, and tributes to loyal supporters are still on the agenda. RCB’s six-run win over Punjab Kings has ended an 18-year drought, and though the format has changed, the city remains in celebration mode.
