South Africa fast bowler Kagiso Rabada was in a jovial mood as he did a rather unusual pitch analysis while lounging on a Caribbean beach. This was just ahead of the second Test versus the West Indies. There was a thrilling finish to the first Test in Trinidad as the Test ended in a pulsating draw. The West Indies achieved 201/5 chasing a target of 298 runs. South Africa had scored 357 in their first innings on a slow and tricky pitch, despite the rain interruptions. The West Indies were finally all out for 233 in their first innings. Later, having batted for the second time, South Africa declared their innings at 173/3, setting a target of 298 runs from 72 overs. More rain, however, came to disrupt the match, and only 56.2 overs were bowled in the final innings before the match was called a draw. As he took a little break on the beach, Rabada responded with light-hearted analysis regarding what a cricket pitch would be had it been made of sand. He discussed how humid conditions and a soft sandy texture on such a pitch might affect things. In his opinion, such a ball would kick all over the place and spin a lot more because of the damp from the sea and dry sand combined.
