South Africa's premier pacer Kagiso Rabada turned the heat at Lord's on the first day of the WTC Final 2025 against Australia. In the seventh over of the opening session of the game, Rabada dismissed two key batters of Australia, Usman Khawaja and Cameron Green, within a span of four balls, leaving Australia under pressure right at the start of the match. He started by getting rid of Usman Khawaja (0), who was struggling at the crease. Bowling in the ideal "corridor of uncertainty," Rabada got Khawaja to edge the ball, and David Bedingham made a sharp catch in the slips. It was an important wicket because Khawaja was Australia's leading run-scorer in the WTC cycle. Only three balls after that, Rabada struck again. This time, he got Cameron Green (4) with a lovely ball that shaped away late. Green, who was given a different role of batting at number three in this Test, edged the ball, and Markram took a breathtaking low catch, diving to his right despite a teammate being in his line of sight. Kagiso Rabada punched in air and did the celebration. His aggressive spell brought a significant point to South Africa in the final. The over could prove to be a turning point in the match.
