During the 2nd Test between England and India at Edgbaston, Birmingham, a light-hearted moment between England wicketkeeper Jamie Smith and India’s Rishabh Pant caught everyone's attention. As Pant was batting fluently, Smith playfully reminded him about the fastest century, saying, “The fastest hundred is in 55 balls; you can do that today.” Pant, known for his calm yet witty nature, replied with a smile, “I’m not greedy for records. If it happens, it happens.” The fun exchange brought a smile to fans and added a touch of humor to the intense battle on the field during the ongoing England-India series. With his first of his three maximums against Josh Tongue, he surpassed Stokes' record of 21 in South Africa to emerge as the top batter for most number of sixes in Tests abroad. Up to the time Pant came back to the dressing room, his count increased to 24. The second-highest count by a visiting batter in England is 16 by Sir Vivian Richards. Pant, who had scored only 25 in the first innings, made sure he was in the middle of runs in the second essay. Pant eventually was caught by Shoaib Bashir, just like the previous time in the match, attempting a fiery slog. Pant, however, miscued the ball off Ben Duckett on the long-off rail to present Bashir with his first wicket in the second innings. India's superiority has surpassed 450, and one will have to wait and see when they plan to take a shot at the hosts with the ball. The side with Shubman Gill at the helm will look to level the series after their five-wicket loss in the series opener at Headingley. The third match of the series is slated to begin on Thursday, July 10, at Lord's. The final two games of the series will be played at Manchester's Old Trafford (from July 23) and London's Oval (from July 31).
