The incident occurred in the 19th over of the first innings in Match 49 between CSK and PBKS at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai as MS Dhoni stepped out against Yuzvendra Chahal and tonked him for a six over long-on. The ball crossed the boundary ropes comfortably and was taken by Dhoni's CSK teammate Ravindra Jadeja who was standing ahead of the CSK dugout. Jadeja took the catch and also celebrated before throwing it back into play. This brought the whole Chepauk on its feet as thousands of whistles started blowing and the customary yellow flags flew high.
