The first semi-final of the ACC Men’s Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025, featuring Bangladesh A and India A at the West End Park International Cricket Stadium in Doha, took a dramatic turn after a pivotal moment that changed the course of the game. India A found themselves in a tight spot when Jitesh Sharma went for a risky scoop shot against a full-length delivery. Unfortunately, he completely misread the line, missed the ball, and it went crashing into the stumps. It was a frustrating blunder, especially at a time when India A needed steady batting instead of high-risk plays. This dismissal left the team in shock and proved to be a costly mistake in such a crucial knockout match. Watch here: What was 32 year old youngster Jitesh Sharma even trying to do. Bangladesh Prevails Despite Late Collapse By the time they reached the end of the 15th over in their chase, India A found themselves needing 45 runs from just 30 balls—definitely a doable 9 runs per over, especially with 6 wickets still in hand. However, Nehal Wadhera was having a tough time getting into his groove. In his last 12 balls, the left-handed batter could only scrape together 11 runs, which was pretty hard to watch. With 16 runs required off 6 balls, things were looking pretty bleak. Just when it felt like all hope was slipping away, Ashutosh Sharma launched a massive six over long on, cutting the target down to 8 runs off 3 balls. That’s when Bangladesh A really started to crack under pressure. First, Jishan Alam dropped Ashutosh, and to make matters worse, the ball rolled all the way to the boundary for a four. On the very next delivery, Rakibul Hasan managed to bowl Ashutosh out, and with four runs needed on the last ball, Bangladesh A stumbled again. Harsh Dubey couldn’t quite connect while trying to slog, and Wadhera made a break for the other end. Bangladesh A thought they had it all wrapped up, but the fielder wasn’t paying attention. He threw the ball way off target, giving Dubey the chance to dash back for a double. Keeper Akbar Ali then had a moment of confusion and threw the ball at the stumps but missed. Not only did India A complete the double, but they also managed to sneak in another run, pushing the semifinal into a Super Over.
