Run out is a one of the methods to get out in cricket, but occasionally a batter gets out in a most unlucky and humorous manner. A clip from an English club match of cricket demonstrates one such run out that was so strange and humorous, even the umpire and wicketkeeper did not stop laughing. How Did This Humorous Run Out Occur? The match was being played between Loughborough Carillon CC and Hathern Old CC on June 1, 2025. Hathern Old CC first came into bat and made 181 runs but lost all 10 wickets. The amusing run out occurred on the third ball of the 24th over. Nik Patel, Hathern Old CC batter who was on strike, played a shot off Simon Bumpus's spinning ball. The ball was in the air high, but the fielders dropped the catch. Due to this missed catch, a very unusual run out of the non-striker Qazi Wahaj happened. When the ball fell, it struck the leg of fielder Rishi Vaidya and then deflected towards the stumps. Wahaj was way back from the crease and got run out due to this unlucky deflection. The wicketkeeper of Loughborough Carillon CC, Aakif Imthiyaz, laughed so heartily that he ended up on the ground. The entire field, including all the players and umpires, laughed at this bizarre and humorous run out. Also Read | Why Bench ₹11 Cr Player? But the unusual run out of Qazi Wahaj was the highlight of the day. Run Out Controversies and Humorous Moments in Cricket Run outs also occur frequently in cricket, but occasionally they occur in unfortunate or smart ways. For instance, the striker may drive the ball squarely, and it brushes the bowler and then the stumps and gets the non-striker run out. Some smart bowlers, such as Ravichandran Ashwin, even attempt to get the non-striker out run before they bowl (often referred as Mankad), which is not always considered ethical, but it is fair according to the rules.
