The drama unfolded at the Kennington Oval in London during the 5th Test of the India tour of England 2025. Players from both sides started walking off the field when lunch was called on Day 3, but things did not finish quietly. There was some sort of exchange between the Indian batters and the English players. Yashaswi Jaiswal appeared more engaged in the fiery situation, particularly with Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope. Though the situation didn't escalate out of control, Shubman Gill could be observed intervening, attempting to soothe Jaiswal and prevent things from deteriorating. There was added drama in the last moments before lunch, courtesy Jaiswal, that saw some haldulf words exchanged as the players took their leave. Ben Duckett was once more at the center of it all, with Jaiswal appearing to be riled. A couple of fingers were pointed, and tension was evident, but Shubman Gill remained calm and attempted to escort his partner away from the situation. Barring the exchange, India had plenty to smile about in the session. Akash Deep, brought in as a nightwatchman, delivered more than anyone anticipated. Dropped early by Crawley, England suffered. The right-hander played with impeccable control and proceeded to score his first Test fifty, eventually being dismissed for a well-crafted 66. He put on a useful 107-run partnership with Gill that put India in firm control. England began the day on a positive note with some swing and movement, but they lost the plot soon and offered too many loose balls. India cashed in and put pressure throughout. England have plenty of work to do after lunch.
