Day 2 of the fifth and final Test between England and India at the Kennington Oval saw plenty of drama, with tempers frayed and emotions in full flow. The highlight was when Joe Root walked in to bat and was tested by Prasidh Krishna. The Indian paceman came up with a magical delivery that kept its line a fraction outside off, beating Root's outside edge and commanding a solid response. The two players exchanged hot words in a hurry, and the air was tense. Root, not budging, retaliated against him with a elegant late cut that raced to the boundary, infusing venom in the heat of the moment. This was followed by another blow-up of hot words as both players stood their ground. The on-pitch animosity became so intense that the umpire had to step in. It was an emotional spell of play, showing just how much this Test match means to both sides. Siraj produced a gem of a delivery around the wicket that came on a good length and cut back sharply. Root was caught in middle on the crease and wasn't able to get his bat down in time. The ball struck him on the knee roll in line with the stumps. Siraj appealed loudly, and the umpire pointed his finger. Root decided to go for a review but the ball-tracking indicated that it would have clipped the top of the leg stump. All three reds validated the dismissal, and Root had to walk back. It was India's moment of triumph and a richly-deserved prize for Siraj, who had been bowling his heart out and piling the pressure on with each over.
