The 1st semi-final of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024 between Baroda and Mumbai saw some well-known names of Indian cricket taking the filed. Players like Shreyas Iyer, Ajinkya Rahane and Hardik Pandya played for their respective teams in the intense knock-out game. However, one gesture of Hardik Pandya in this semi-final grabbed the attention of fans which also earned him a lot of prasie. During the match at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on 13th December 2024, three spectators rushed into the ground in order to meet the Baroda's cricketer Hardik Pandya. The security personnel intervened soon to escort them out of the ground. While they were on their way back, all-rounder Hardik Pandya urged them to treat the invaders gently. Shivalik Sharma scored 36*, while Shashwat Rawat and Krunal Pandya added 33 and 30 respectively. For Mumbai, Suryansh Shedge bagged two wickets, while rest of the five bowlers had one each ahead of their name. In the chase of 159, Mumbai lost an early wicket of Prithvi Shaw, but Ajinkya Rahane and Shreyas Iyer kept on smashing the Baroda bowlers for fun. Rahane, who is having a dream season, scored a splendid 98, missing his century by just 2 runs as the batter lost his wicket to Abhimanyu Singh. Iyer also added 46 off 30 to close the chase in just 17.2 overs. Mumbai will now play the Final of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024 on Sunday. They will face the winner of the second semi-final that is being played between Delhi and Madhya Pradesh.
