In the 17th over of the Baroda's innings against Tamil Nadu in Syed Mushtaq Ali 2024, Mumbai Indians' skipper Hardik Pandya smashed 30 runs off the TN bowler while chasing a mammoth target of 222. Gurjanpreet Singh bowled the first delivery in the slot and Pandya dispatched it into the crowd over the cow-corner. The left-arm medium pacer attempted to bowl the next two balls away from the batter but it ended up in the arc of Pandya and he launched the first one straight down the ground, while the second one over the long-off boundary. Gurjanpreet then tried to deceive Pandya with a short pitch delivery but the results were similar to the previous three as this one also went for a massive six. This wasn't enough as the all-rounder got a boundary on third-man on a free-hit delivery followed by a single on the last ball of the over. This havoc by Pandya spoiled the bowling figures as he gathered 30 runs on just 6 deliveries. However, this blistering innings of Pandya helped Baroda to take the game away from Tamil Nadu. He, along with Raj Limbani, registered a partnership of 61 runs in just 22 balls before losing his wicket through a run-out, thanks to a splendid direct hit by Vijay Shankar, who earlier in the game, smashed 3 sixes off Pandya's over. Four runs were required off the last ball and Atit Sheth held his nerves to find a boundary which helped Baroda to close the chase. Hardik Panyda has been pretty impressive in this tournament. He has been a linch-pin with the bat as the all-rounder has hammered 184 runs in 3 innings. He has also been effective with the ball, barring this game against Tamil Nadu, he has bagged 2 wickets in the first two matches of the season. His form is crucial, not only for Baroda, but also for the Indian team
