India's promising all-rounder Nitish Reddy turned the match around on Day 1 of the third Test in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Lord's. England, who were appearing solid at 39 for no loss after 13 overs with their openers Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley batting with ease, were taken by surprise when Indian captain Shubman Gill handed over the ball to Nitish Reddy just after drinks time, and it proved to be a masterstroke. In his very first over after Drinks, Nitish made a huge impact by removing two big wickets within six balls. Firstly, he dismissed Ben Duckett with a short ball down the leg side on the third delivery of the over. Duckett attempted to glance it fine but gloved it. Rishabh Pant took a clean catch to his right, and the umpire did not have any doubt about giving it out. Duckett returned to the pavilion after making 23 runs from 40 balls. Only three balls down, Reddy struck again. It was this time the turn of Duckett's opening partner Zak Crawley to be caught behind. He played a drive outside off, but the ball nicked off and went to Pant again, who did not err. Crawley was out for 18 runs from 43 balls. In just one over, England was from being in command to being in a predicament of losing both the openers, and the Indian team was revved up. The ball knacked off Pope's bat and traveled to the right of Gill. The Indian skipper dived and did get his right hand under the ball but could not complete the catch. This extraordinary stuff from Nitish Reddy not only provided India with the breakthrough they sought but also shifted the momentum of the game. This was a courageous call by captain Shubman Gill and something that fans will talk about. For Reddy, this was a dream beginning to bowling in a Test match at the iconic Lord's.
