In a hilarious twist of events in the Desert Vipers vs Dubai Capitals Qualifier 1, the comedy of errors in the delivery of the 5th ball of the eighth over had everyone smiling, though there was no actual harm done to the game. All it was initiated from delivery by Sam Curran to Rossington, which resulted into a run. However, there occurred a mix-up between Rossington and Gulbadan and both of them ended up being at the bowler's end. The fielder at the point, did a blunder by aiming at the bowlers end where there was no one to collect the ball as the wicketkeeper and the bowler was standing at the batter's end. Rossington, with a smile, appeared not to be bothered by the mayhem, but it could have become a run-out. Although the mistake did add some excitement to the game, no damage was done to the Capitals. Alex Hales powered the innings by scoring by 67 of 32 and the opener was assisted by rest of the batters throughout the innings. Max Holden added 36, Dan Lawrence scored 35 and Sam Curran also knitted 24 off 21 in this total. However, the total did not prove to be sufficient as the Capitals sealed a superb victory in the last ball thriller. Rossington and Billings scored 44 and 38, while Powell hammered 23. However, Gulbadin Naib was the hero in this chase as the all-rounder scored 62 off 39 and was also adjudged as the player of the match for the same.
