On February 19, during the opening match of the Champions Trophy 2025 at the Karachi Stadium between New Zealand and Pakistan, Pakistan batter Fakhar Zaman was seen languidly strolling up the stairs towards the dressing room. This happened after Michael Bracewell dismissed Zaman for just 24 runs. Zaman was seen accompanied by his fellow teammate Shaheen Shah Afridi as the former entered the dressing room and broke into tears. Shaheen, alongside another support staff, was seen consoling him. Zaman was later officially ruled out from the tournament, to which he even posted a long emotional post on his Instagram account, which said, "Representing Pakistan on the biggest stage is an honour and dream of every cricketer in this country. I have been privileged enough to represent Pakistan multiple times with pride. Unfortunately I’m now out of ICC Champions Trophy 2025 but surely Allah is the best planner. Grateful for the opportunity.
