Faf du Plessis demonstrated age is just a number as he pulled out an incredible superman-esque catch during the second match of the Major League Cricket (MLC) on Friday night at the Oakland Coliseum. The 40-year-old player, who now represents Texas Super Kings (TSK), leaped to his right and took a one-handed catch to send Michael Bracewell packing. It occurred when Adam Milne delivered a short, slow ball. Bracewell struck it flat with force. Initially, it seemed like the ball was going to go past Faf. But then the former South Africa captain was swift, sprang in the air, and picked it up in one hand. He afterwards ensured he got down safely without dropping the ball. Despite having some good batting, the fall of Bracewell was ill-timed. Nicholas Pooran's side was still in the game but needed to try harder after that. Texas Super Kings had earlier put up 185/6 from their 20 overs. Devon Conway had made a sturdy 65 off 44 balls, while Calvin Savage had played a quick 53 off 34 balls towards the end and his innings comprised of two fours and four sixes. MINY had a rough beginning as they lost both Agni Chopra and Quinton de Kock fell for single-digit figures. They were 24/3 in the sixth over. Monak Patel (62 of 44) and Bracewell (38 of 21) contributed crucial runs in the middle. Kieron Pollard later tore through 32 off only 16 balls to support their side, but what caused them the defeat was the wiceket of Bracewell. The southpaw was striking well, but an unreal effort by du Plessis brought his innings to an end. Post his wicket, the scoring rate reduced and eventually, MI New York lost the game by just three runs.
