The 2025 Asia Cup's drama has been a bigger highlight than the match. Not only that, during the final match on September 28, the Indian management officially informed the Asian Cricket Council representative about the same. At some point neutral representatives from the Emirates Cricket Board and other present dignitaries on the stage agreed to hand over the cup. But Mohsin was adamant about giving it. The presentation ceremony itself started after forty finve minutes. While Simon Doull, the presentation host, was announcing the stakeholders' names and giving medals to the Pakistan team, the Indian team was chilling in the distance. Naqvi waited for a long time and about a whole 90 minutes, Doull declared that India wouldn't take the trophy, and Mohsin was seen walking away. The Indian cricketers went on to collect their individual honors, such as the Man of the Match award, from other officials, but deliberately refrained from receiving the main trophy. To underline their protest, the squad later enacted a playful celebration on the ground, pretending to lift an invisible cup. During one of the ACC sessions, Indian delegates pressed for the championship trophy and medals to be officially handed over to the team, but Mohsin Naqvi is said to have sidestepped the demand. At the ACC’s annual general meeting, the Indian board reiterated its discontent, stressing that the denial of the trophy presentation was unacceptable.
