Sophie Ecclestone, known as one of the top spinners in the world, bowled a brilliant delivery that knocked over Danni Wyatt-Hodge’s stumps during Match 2 of The Hundred Women’s 2025 season. The Southern Brave had steadied after losing a early wicket, and Wyatt-Hodge was in fine touch while playing her whirlwind 32 off 27 balls. Just when she looked settled to stabilize and quicken the innings, Ecclestone's class showed, swinging the game back in Manchester Originals' favor. Tossed up invitingly around off stump, the ball drew Wyatt-Hodge forward as she attempted to smother the spin with a conventional defensive shot. However, the trajectory of the delivery was deceiving. The ball drifted in through the air, landed on a good length, and then gripped just enough to straighten past Wyatt-Hodge’s bat. The ball slipped past her blade with clinical accuracy and crashed into the off stump. It was a dismissal from a bowling masterclass, exquisite control of flight and pace by Ecclestone, who demonstrated her intellect and experience by lulling the batter into a false sense of security.
