On the evening of May 22, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) created a major upset as they defeated Gujarat Titans (GT) by 33 runs at Narendra Modi Stadium. The star of the evening was Mitchell Marsh, who hit his first-ever century in an IPL and led LSG to inflict the second defeat on the season on GT. But apart from Marsh's major knock, there was one incident after the match that took center stage. During the post-match handshake, GT captain Shubman Gill was seen sparing words with Rishabh Pant. Pant was seemingly about to utter something, but Gill walked past him and went to the next player, leaving Pant looking on behind him. This incident went viral on social media. Some of Gill's fans felt that he had ignored Pant, and others believed it might have been a light-hearted moment between two teammates. In the video, it can be seen that Gill is smiling while walking past Pant, so it can be assumed that there was light-hearted moment between the two Indian stars. He doesn't have a smiling or a friendly face. — Pankaj Gulati (@panky101) May 23, 2025 Gill ke collar khade hi rehte hai poore time...VK banna hai isko attitude se but performance se abhi bohut peeche hai — Aditya (@ADI_99_EDDY) May 23, 2025 Both are regular members of the Indian team and will soon be heading to the UK to play a Test series against England. They are also some of the names under consideration as future Test captains once Rohit Sharma hangs up his boots. Nicholas Pooran played a decent game as well, remaining not out on 56 from 27 deliveries. Gujarat attempted to counter, with Jos Buttler striking Avesh Khan for several boundaries in an over. But LSG's Will O'Rourke picked important wickets and finished with 3/27. Shahrukh Khan provided hope for GT with a big 57 from 29 balls, but it was in vain as GT scored 202/9. Even though the victory did not assist LSG's chances of entering the playoffs, it damaged GT's hopes of reaching the top two. That is perhaps what was responsible for Gill's gloomy disposition during the handshake ceremony.
