Some social media fans are blaming Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for ball tampering during the IPL 2025 match between CSK and Mumbai Indians (MI) on Sunday, March 23 at M.A. Chidambaram, Chennai. A viral video captures CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad and pacer Khaleel Ahmed passing something to each other before Khaleel was ready to bowl. In the video, Ruturaj is observed approaching Khaleel, and then Khaleel removes something from his left pocket. Ruturaj was holding the ball, and they were both conversing while their backs were to the camera. When they both faced the camera, Khaleel removed the ball from Ruturaj and handed him something back. Ruturaj walked away and seemed to put something in his pocket. Even though the video is going viral, CricketGully was unable to verify whether the allegations are true or not. CSK won the toss and decided to field first. The ploy paid off as Khaleel Ahmed sent Rohit Sharma back on the fourth ball of the match and then took out Ryan Rickelton in his very next over. MI struggled initially, and it worsened when Noor Ahmad dismissed Suryakumar Yadav with a sharp stumping by MS Dhoni, and the Afghan spinner ended up taking 4 wickets. MI scored 155 runs at the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs. In response, CSK chased the target, thanks to the fifties by Rachin Ravindra and Ruturaj Gaikwad. However, the low-chase went till the last over as the debutant for MI, Vignesh Puthur, contained the runs in middle overs and also scalped three crucial wickets. However, with Rachin staying till the end, CSK pocketed the game by four wickets and five balls to spare.
